On May 12, a post by ‘Flight 24 Radar’ caught everyone’s attention claiming that an Egyptian cargo aircraft has landed in Pakistan. But no one took note of it at that time. Now, after Shehbaz Sharif’s call to Egyptian President, it has been confirmed that Egypt had supported Pakistan.

Suspension of Indus Water Treaty

The Pakistani PM also took up the issue of Indus Water Treaty, which India has suspended. He mentioned to the Egyptian President that Pakistan values this agreement and believes that it is integral for maintaining regional peace and stability in the region. During the conversation, both the leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations. He also invited President Al-Sisi to visit Pakistan, which the Egyptian president accepted.

The Indus Waters Treaty was in abeyance in the wake of the recent Pahalgam attack. This proved to be a major setback for Pakistan- with issues such as climate change, population explosion and exploitation of resources, Pakistan was already walking on thin ice as the recent series of trouble was surfacing.

The Indus Waters Treaty was put in abeyance by India in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 tourists. India launched Operation Sindoor to destroy terror infrastructure and bases inside Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK). Subsequently, Pakistan instead of backing India’s anti-terror attacked Indian military installations to which New Delhi responded swiftly.
