Washington: American Airlines on Tuesday grounded all its flights across the United States due to an unspecified “technical glitch”, according to the company and a notice on the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) website.
Shares of the airline dropped 3.8% in pre-market trading.
The airlines’ X page was filled with passengers flagging out issues about their flight delays with some even reporting that they’ve been deplaned even after being cleared for take off.
“Our team is working to get this rectified so that you can be safely on your way to your family. Your continued patience is appreciated,” the airline said in response to a passenger’s post on their X account.

In response to another query from a stranded passenger, the company said while no estimated timeframe was available, efforts were underway to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The FAA has yet to provide further comment.
