New Delhi: Afghan Taliban has vowed retaliation after bombardment by Pakistani army in Afghanistan’s Paktika province on Wednesday morning killed at least 46 people. While confirming the casualties deputy spokesperson Hamdullah Fitrat said most of the victims were women and children. Six people were also injured in the attack, added Fitrat.
“Afghanistan considers this brutal act a blatant violation of all international principles and an obvious act of aggression… The Islamic Emirate will not leave this cowardly act unanswered,” Reuters quoted Enayatullah Khowrazmi, the spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense as saying.
Strained relation between neighbours
The relation between the neighbours have not been steady ever since Taliban took over Afghanistan after the withdrawal of American forces in 2021. Pakistan has accused its neighbour of sheltering the militants adding that most of the attacks on its soil was launched from Afghanistan. Taliban has denied it vehemently.
Earlier this year in March, Pakistan had carried out another attack inside Afghanistan with Taliban accused it of carrying out two air strikes on its territory. The attack had killed five women and children.
Pakistan acknowledged the attack and said it to be “intelligence-based anti-terrorist operations” in Afghanistan.
