New Delhi: Bangladesh government led by Mohammad Yunus has revoked the passport of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. The government has also revoked the passports of 96 other individuals. The action of revoking the passport comes over their alleged involvement in deaths and disappearance during the student protests in July last year, reported Times of India.
The protests in Bangladesh resulted in the death of hundreds of people when students and people rose up against the rule of Sheikh Hasina. Before this, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) of Bangladesh had issued an arrest warrant against Sheikh Hasina over enforced disappearances.
The ICT has ordered the arrest of Hasina and 11 others. The next date of hearing in the case is February 12.
