Quetta: Amid tensions with India on the eastern border, Pakistan also faces another major crisis on its western front. Even as its forces continue to target Indian cities with drones, the Baloch rebels, who have been demanding independence for a long time, have intensified their attacks against the Pakistani forces.
The five places where Baloch fighters attacked Baloch fighters include Quetta, Uthhal, Sohbatpur, and Panjgur. As per reports published in TV9 hindi at least Baloch groups have claimed control over many parts of Balochistan.
Several explosions and fires were reported in clashes
The report added that several explosions and firing incidents were reported in clashes between security forces and Baloch rebels in several parts of the province on Thursday and Friday. In pictures and videos that have been shared on social media, the Pakistani national flag has been removed and the Baloch flag has been hoisted at many places.
Earlier on Friday, Baloch rebels targeted a Pakistani Army convoy in the Faizabad area of Quetta. Apart from this, a military camp in Sibbi was attacked with grenades. Earlier on Thursday, attacks were carried out by “unknown armed assailants” at four different places in Quetta.
According to Balochistan’s local media source ‘Radio Zrumbesh English’, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) carried out at least six attacks in Kech, Mastung, and Kachi, targeting the Pakistani army and its allies.
Importantly, the latest attacks in Balochistan have been reported after the statement of former Pakistan Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in which he said that the Pakistan government and army are losing control over Balochistan.
It is important to note that since April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed and several others were injured, India started Operation Sindoor against its western neigbour. The Resistance Force, the sister group of Pakistan-based terror group LeT claimed responsibility for the attack.
Soon after India started Operation Sindoor against nine locations of terror groups in Pakistan- LeT, JeM, and HM. While the attack was proportionate and did not target any military base or civilians in Pakistan, the Pakistani forces tried to target Indian cities with drones, which have increased since Thursday night. The Indian armed forces have successfully intercepted all drones.
