New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met German Chancellor Fredrich Merz on Friday at Berlin to discuss the various regional security concerns, especially the issues regarding cross border terrorism. This meeting has several implications for boosting India’s bilateral ties.
Jaishankar has been a strong proponent of the “no tolerance policy” towards terrorism. He outlined the challenges that are looming large on India and that strict measures would be implemented in lieu of the same.
Earlier, Chancellor Merz had expressed his concerns over the relations between India and Pakistan and called for restraint and prudence from both nations. This meeting has several implications for India. He had also highlighted the need for a peaceful negotiation and mutual dialogue between the two conflicting nations. He emphasized that diplomacy and mutual understanding remain the best pathways to regional stability. The meeting also helped in the promotion of shared values between India and Germany, both of which are committed to the principles of international cooperation in addressing global threats.
The meeting also served as a platform for strategic partnership and mutual collaboration between India and Germany focusing on mutual interest to combat terrorism in the subcontinent. Both the leaders are committed towards the goal of achieving a peaceful dialogue and negotiation.
