New Delhi: A strong earthquake of 7.1 magnitude struck the Nepal-Tiber border on Tuesday morning with tremors felt in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR and northeastern states.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the earthquake was 93 kilometers northeast of Lobuche in Nepal, near the border with Tibet.

Nepal lies in a geologically active zone, where the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates gives rise to the Himalayas and makes earthquakes a common event in the country.
The tremors were strongly felt in Bihar, prompting people to gather outside their homes and apartments. However, no damage to property has been reported as a result of the earthquake.
Tremors felt in parts of India
The earthquake that struck around 6.35 am, also saw tremors being felt in parts of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Assam and the Delhi-NCR region with many people on social media reporting tremors in their areas.

People in Bihar were seen rushing out of their homes on the cold morning as they felt the ground shaking. More details about the earthquake are awaited.
