New Delhi: The feud between billionaire Elon Musk and US President Donald Trump has taken a nasty turn, with the former dropping a massively controversial claim that the Trump’s name is in the Epstein files. He further added that since the Epstein files contain the President’s name, the details and findings of the investigation have not been made public. Notably, Musk made the stunning claim on his X (formerly Twitter) account and since then, it has become viral worldwide.
Musk wrote on X, “Time to drop the really big bomb: Donald Trump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” He made the claim just an hour after Trump told the press that he was “disappointed with Elon” for opposing his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’. Musk replied to his Epstein files post by saying, “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.” He also agreed to a post that said Trump should be impeached.

What are the Epstein files?
Jeffrey Epstein was a child sex offender and trafficker who was accused several times of raping young girls. He was also accused of trafficking minors to ‘sexually satisfy’ top politicians, businessmen, and celebrities. Moreover, several women alleged that at his private Caribbean island and homes in Florida, New York, and New Mexico, Epstein forced them to provide sexual services to him and his high-profile guests.
The teacher-cum banker-cum businessman’s rise was rapid. His close association with elite social circle included procuring many young women and children and sexually abusing, assaulting them. In 2005, a parent’s allegation that Epstein had sexually abused her minor daughter opened a can of worms as the Florida police launched an investigation. His sexual perversion involving minor girls came to the fore, but he never really received substantial punishment, having served only 13 months in prison. In August 2019, during his trial, the serial sex offender died by suicide in a US prison.
The Epstein files are the material found during the probe and it includes contact lists, documents, names of his associates and clients, call records and chats, videos. The materials have been acknowledged by the US government and the importance the filed hold regarding the probe. However, so far, only select records have been released.
In February 2025, the US Department of Justice’s document revealed that pop icon Michael Jackson, actor Alec Baldwin, film producer Harvey Weinstein and US President Donald Trump were among the innumerable celebrities who were on the contact list of Jeffery Epstein. However, the information about the investigation have not been open to public. The document had many other high-profile names like Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, musician Courtney Love, Robert F Kennedy Jr’s mother Ethel Kennedy, supermodel Naomi Campbell, late Senator Ted Kennedy, former Secretary of State John Kerry, actors Dustin Hoffman, Ralph Fiennes, and lawyer Alan Dershowitz. Also, Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump’s name is in the list.
The files have revealed the flight logs of Epstein and they include the names of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Prince Andrew, Naomi Campbell, Didier, Tommy Quinn, Mark Middleton, Andy Stewart, Maria Shriver, Sharon Reynolds, Bob Wendy, Matt Grope, Jean Luc Brunel, Emmy Tayler, Glenn Dubin, Alan Dershowitz, Larry Summers, Sophie Biddle, Alan Greenberg, Ghislaine Maxwell, Ira Zuckerman, Joan Alessi, and Eva Andersson. Also, the US Justice Department had revealed a censored list of the masseuses and it had 254 names. Not much of the probe has been revealed in public.
