New Delhi: Moshe Feiglin, the far-right Israeli politician in Gaza has given a shocking statement amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. On May 21, he reportedly said that every child, every baby in Gaza is an enemy. Feiglin, a former member of the Knesset (the parliament of Israel), told TV Channel 14 in the country, “The enemy is not Hamas, nor is it the military wing of Hamas.”
Then, he shockingly added, “Every child in Gaza is the enemy. We need to occupy Gaza and settle it, and not a single Gazan child will be left there. There is no other victory.” Notably, Feiglin made those comments after Yair Golan, a retired deputy chief of staff in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the head of The Democrats, a newly formed political party accused Israel of “killing babies as a hobby.”
Golan, in a press conference, slammed the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government in Gaza. He said “Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was, if we don’t return to acting like a sane country. A sane country does not fight against civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not engage in mass population displacement.” Moreover, he accused the present government of being “full of vengeful types with no morals and no ability to run a country in a time of crisis. This endangers our existence.”
Benjamin Netanyahu denies allegations
However, Netanyahu denied those allegations and said in a statement, “I vehemently condemn the wild incitement from Yair Golan against our heroic soldiers and against the State of Israel. The IDF is the most moral army in the world, and our soldiers are fighting in a war for our existence.” As per a report by The Associated Press, he has announced that the country is days away from implementing a new aid system in Gaza that has come under heavy international criticism. He reportedly said Israel later plans to create a “sterile zone” there, free of Hamas, where the population, which has repeatedly evacuated and relocated throughout the war, would be moved and receive supplies.
Dr Marwan Al-Hams, head of Gaza’s field hospitals has said that Israeli strikes in the last four days have killed over 600 Palestinians. As per the claims of the Palestinian Health Ministry, around 53,000 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its offensive after the October 7 Hamas attack. The United Nations has reportedly said that it was trying to get the desperately needed aid that has entered Gaza this week into the hands of Palestinians amid delays because of fears of looting and Israeli military restrictions.
