New Delhi: Pakistan’s General Asim Munir was promoted to the rank of Field Marshal on Tuesday. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s office praised Munir’s excellent leadership strategies and courage during Operation Sindoor, stating that his actions helped the nation combat unprecedented situations and defeat the enemy based on the high strategy.
Munir has made history by becoming the second senior military officer in Pakistan’s history to be promoted to this prestigious rank. The first was Army general Ayub Khan to attain the rank of Field Marshal in 1959.
‘Clown country’
Asim Munir was promoted just over a week after India and Pakistan agreed on May 10 to halt all air, sea, and land military operations against one another.
The netizens are slamming the decision as they feel that Munir is not an outstanding leader. Even as the promotion apparently has a government stamp, people are constantly trolling Munir on “promoting himself”.
Trollers are raising hackles over the basis of his promotion. Under the leadership of Munir, Pakistan lost the conflict with India and allegedly bombed its own airbases. It was India, who shot down majority of Pakistan’s drones and unarmed aerial vehicles.
A troller asserted, “Asim Munir elevated himself to the rank of Field Marshal. Clown country.” Controversies are raging over Munir hiding in a bunker during the Indo-Pak conflict. Now that he is promoted, he “is now entitled to get a bigger, more spacious bunker”, a troller wrote sarcastically.
Another user on X commented, “Asim Munir has been actually promoted to ‘Failed Marshal’ not ‘Field Marshal’. A failure can be promoted to this only.” Adding to the mockery, some netizens posted a video clip of Nana Patekar, where he offers puja to himself.
Singer Adnan Sami posted a video clip on X, where a man is delivering a speech to animals, where he asserts,”I will protect the rights of all donkeys, animals with the power vested in me.”
