New Delhi: Amid the political turmoil gripping Canada, Elon Musk added his voice to the ongoing debate surrounding former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, US President-elect Donald Trump, and the controversial proposal to merge Canada into the United States.
Musk’s brief response to a Trudeau X post, “Girl, you’re not the governor of Canada anymore, so doesn’t matter what you say,” injected a dose of unexpected commentary into the already charged situation.

The debate started after Trump repeated his plan to make Canada the 51st state of the United States, employing “economic force” to achieve this goal. He has previously threatened Canada with a 25 per cent tariff on imports, a move Trudeau previously downplayed, a response that ultimately led to his resignation as Prime Minister.
Speaking out publicly for the first time on X since leaving office, Trudeau took a firm stance against Trump’s proposal, declaring, “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States. Workers and communities in both our countries benefit from each other’s biggest trading and security partner.”

Trump, meanwhile, has repeatedly pushed the merger idea, even sharing a manipulated map of North America depicting a unified US and Canada. The Liberal Party countered with a corrected world map, with a veiled dig at Donald Trump: “For anyone who may be confused.”
