New Delhi: Issuing yet another threat, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that if India dared to attack Pakistan, no one would survive. He pointed out that any act of aggression or attempt to jeopardise Pakistan’s security will spark a strong and historic response from the nation.
The remark comes amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
“If not us, then there will be no one. If our security is threatened, we will fight back with full aggression,” he said during an interview on Samaa TV.
Asif also equated the situation to the Israeli military offensive in Gaza, pointing out that the same mindset was being employed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his allies.
A few days back, Asif had sounded a warning that India could launch a military strike at any moment along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. “There are reports that India may strike at any point along the LoC… New Delhi will be given a befitting reply,” he had said while speaking to reporters in Islamabad.
He had also pledged to “destroy” any structure built by India to divert water allocated to Pakistan under the Indus Waters Treaty. “Water is our red line. Future wars will be over water.” Asif had also issued a threat of an “all-out war” between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.
In response to his threats, BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain had said: “Khawaja Asif is visibly shaken. Though he is Pakistan’s Defence Minister, he hardly has any control. He’s merely a statement minister, constantly issuing hollow threats. The fear among Pakistanis is evident. They are losing sleep at night.”
