In a series of posts shared on social media platform X on Sunday, the Indian Embassy urged citizens in Iran to remain cautious and stay in regular contact with the mission. It emphasised that the Telegram link is “ONLY” for Indian nationals presently residing in the country.

“Indians in Iran are requested to join the following link to receive updates on the situation from the Embassy of India,” the post read.

The Embassy further advised all Indian citizens to “avoid unnecessary movements” and remain vigilant in light of the deteriorating security environment. Citizens were also urged to follow official Embassy social media handles for verified updates and instructions.

Moreover, the Embassy requested Indian nationals to share their personal details via a Google form: https://forms.gle/cCLrLyzFkS2AZYEM8, ensuring that the mission can keep an accurate record of Indians in the region.

The development comes amid a sharp escalation in West Asia, with Israel launching a major military operation, code named “Operation Rising Lion”, targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites. In retaliation, Iran carried out missile and drone attacks under “Operation True Promise 3”, targeting Israeli infrastructure including jet fuel and energy facilities.

On Friday, the Indian Embassy had already issued an advisory asking Indian nationals and persons of Indian origin in Iran to remain cautious and adhere to local safety protocols.

“It is important not to panic. Exercise due caution and maintain contact with the Embassy of India in Tehran,” the statement read.
