New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Cyprus on Monday, reiterated that “this is not an era of war”.
Addressing a joint press conference with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides, PM Modi said, “We both expressed concern over the conflicts going on in West Asia and Europe. Their negative impact is not just limited to those regions. We both consider that this is not an era of war. Resolution through dialogue and restoration of stability is the call of humanity.”
PM conferred with ‘The Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III’
The PM was also conferred upon ‘The Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III’ by his hosts. He extended gratitude to the government and people of Cyprus for the award.
“This isn’t my honour. It is an honour for 140 crore Indians. I dedicate this award to the everlasting friendship between India and Cyprus. Together, our nations will contribute towards making a better planet!” PM Modi said in a post on X.
‘Golden opportunity to write new chapter in India-Cyprus ties’
The PM also said his visit was a “golden opportunity” to write a new chapter in India-Cyprus ties.
PM Modi is on a three-nation tour, with Cyprus being the first stop. From here, he will travel to Canada to participate in the G7 Summit, before concluding his visit in Croatia, another European Union nation.
