Iranian missile hits Israel’s important Soroka hospital, Benjamin Netanyahu vows to ‘exact the full price from tyrants in Tehran’

Kolkata: Iran has reportedly hit Israel’s largest hospital, the Soroka Hospital in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba. The incident took place on the morning of June 19 as Iran’s ballistic missile, part of its fresh attack against Israel, hit the hospital.

According to a Reuters report citing rescue teams, at least 47 people have been injured across Israel due to the missile strikes of Iran. Several videos have shown people running through corridors filled with dust and detritus with doctors standing outside as thick plumes of smoke emerge from the dilapidated building of the Soroka Hospital.

The Soroka Medical Center is the main hospital in the southern half of Israel. It has more than 1,000 beds and provides services to the approximately 1 million people in the area. According to a spokesperson of the hospital, “There has been damage to the hospital and extensive damage in various areas. We are currently assessing the damage, including injuries. We ask the public not to come to the hospital at this time.”

Iranian missiles also struck other areas including a residential high-rise in Tel Aviv and 16 wounded individuals were admitted in a hospital in the city, with three of whom being critically injured.

Benjamin Netanyahu vows revenge

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to Iran’s attack and said, “This morning, Iran’s terrorist tyrants launched missiles at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheba and at civilians in central Israel. We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran.”

The foreign ministry-run ‘State of Israel’ account recently posted, “The Iranian regime targeted Soroka Hospital in Beersheba with a ballistic missile—hitting a major medical centre. We will not stand by. We will continue doing what must be done to defend our people.”

Moreover, according to reports, the US is planning to directly enter the Israel-Iran war and senior US officials are preparing for the possibility of a strike on Iran. According to a report by the NDTV, Washington is likely to assemble the infrastructure to attack Iran, as the Israeli military confirmed that it was “carrying out a series of strikes” in Tehran and other parts of the country.
