In the video, the woman can be seen removing the cleric’s turban forcibly after the latter advised her to cover her head. After snatching the turban, the woman can be seen covering her head with it, as other people at the airport watch their confrontation. She then starts looking for her husband.

No date and time of the video

As per Mashregh News, a pro-Iranian Government media organisation, the dispute did not start over the woman’s hijab and that the woman had some ‘psychological’ issues. There is no date and time for when the video was taken.

The video was posted on social media by Masih Alinejad, an Iranian-American prominent in women’s rights. Sharing the video, she wrote, “For years, clerics have claimed their turbans and robes are sacred and untouchable, but this woman’s protest shattered that myth. Iranian women are exhausted and enraged by gender apartheid.”

It may be noted that the women in Iran are facing strict rules to cover their heads. The Iranian Government has also designated a force called the ‘morality police’, whose task is to enforce hijab rules and dress code among the women of the country.

A brave woman at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport confronted a cleric harassing her for not wearing a hijab. In a bold act of defiance, she removed his turban and wore it like a scarf, turning oppression into resistance.

However, the women have stood up against the harsh rules of the Iranian Government against women especially after the death of Mahsa Amini (22) in the morality police’s custody after she was allegedly beaten up in 2022.

On Sept. 13, 2022, morality police took Mahsa Amini into custody for wearing her hijab in an improper manner in Tehran. After being beaten up, she lost consciousness and died after 3 latter, which led to protests across the country.
