New Delhi: Israel launched a series of preemptive airstrikes across Tehran. It targeted the key Iranian uranium enrichment facility.
The Operation was codenamed “Operation Rising Lion”. It marks one of the boldest Israeli attacks in Iran in recent history.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message-“Moments ago, Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, a targeted military operation to roll back the Iranian threat to Israel’s very survival.”
He further added, that “this operation will continue as long as necessary, until we complete the mission.” According to the PM, the strikes are aimed at Iran’s nuclear program, ballistic missile capabilities and broader military infrastructure.
He has also said that Israel is at a “decisive point” in history.
“Our brave pilots are attacking a large number of targets across Iran”, he remarked.

According to a statement by IDF spokesperson Brigadier General Effie Defrin, the Israeli military has targeted the Iranian military and nuclear sites in what is being described as a broad and coordinated offensive.
This action comes amidst the claim that Israel for years had warned Iran regarding its nuclear program. Iran continues to enrich uranium close to weapon grade levels. This has raised the threat for Israel and its allies. This strike was carried out in the wake of the diplomatic tensions between Israel and Iran over an agreement on the part of Iran to curb its nuclear program.
US envoy Steve Witkoff has held 5 rounds of talks with Iranian officials in recent months. US has said that it had nothing to do with the Israeli strikes on Iran.
