Kolkata: The attack of Israel against several places in Iran on June 13 killed Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh. He is the head of the IRGC Aerospace Force. He held the position from October 2009 till his death in June 2025.

According to the Times of Israel, the IDF has confirmed the death of the top Iranian brass when he was in an underground command center to prepare to attack Israel. The Israeli forces struck the command center with fighter jets.

The IRGC air force attacked Israel in April and October 2024 with ballistic missile and drones. As per the IDF, Hajizadeh also led the 2019 drone attack on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. The IDF reportedly said, “Hajizadeh publicly pledged allegiance to the idea of destroying Israel on multiple occasions in recent years and played a central role in formulating the plan to destroy Israel.”

The Israeli operation in Iran, named ‘Rising Lion’, also killed General Hossein Salami, the chief of IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps). Several other military officials and nuclear scientists lost their lives in the operation. The Israeli forces also attacked the headquarters of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, along with several places of Tehran, including nuclear and military sites.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, stated that they struck Iran’s nuclear facility at Natanz and targeted scientists. He added that the operation against Iran would “continue as many days as it takes.” He said, “If not stopped, Iran could produce a nuclear weapon in a very short time. It could be a year. It could be within a few months, or less than a year. This is a clear and present danger to Israel’s very survival.” As per the Iranian media, the attack was a retaliation to the tensions that escalated when US declared Iran’s assurance for a halt in the production of a material in an atom bomb.
