U.S. Vice President JD Vance along with his wife Usha and their three children are set to visit India on April 21. According to reports, the family is expected to visit Jaipur city in their four-day visit.

The vice-president will have both a personal and official trip to the city,  where he will attend meetings with industry leaders and government officials in Jaipur.

Along with his family, Vance will visit famous tourist sites, including Amber Fort and City Palace. He will also deliver a speech at an industry event centred around trade and technology.

As per a TOI report, the family would reach Jaipur on April 21 following a formal dinner in Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The security across the city has been heightened to ensure a safe and smooth stay for the visiting dignitaries. JD Vance will meet PM Modi on April 21 for having discussions on economic, trade and geopolitical ties.

The visit comes after the US imposes increased tariffs on several countries, including India. The trade war between the US and China has intensified after President Donald Trump imposed up to 125 per cent tariffs on Chinese goods. The levies on many goods have reached 245 per cent. China responded sharply to the decision by imposing a 125 per cent tariff on US products.

India faced a tariff of 27 per cent when the US announced a reciprocal tariff on different countries on April 2. Since then, India has been putting effort into negotiating trade with the US.

The visit also comes at a time when the Chinese President Xi Jinping is about to finish his trip to Southeast Asian nations. His visit aims to strengthen its trade ties with the countries amid rising tensions with the US.
