New Delhi: As Israeli airstrikes on Iran entered their third consecutive day, intensifying fears of a broader regional war, former US President Donald Trump on Sunday said that he could mediate peace between Israel and Iran — just as he claimed to have done “between India and Pakistan” during the recent hostilities between the neighbours.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote: “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!”

Not the first time Trump claims credit
This is not the first time that Trump claimed of his role in India and Pakistan ceasefire.
The post comes at a time when the Middle East is once again on the edge. Israel has carried out strikes on Iranian military and nuclear facilities, in what it called “Operation Rising Lion”, prompting Iran to retaliate with ballistic missiles, some of which struck Israeli targets. The escalating confrontation has resulted in dozens of casualties, including top Iranian commanders military personnel.
Trump insisted he was already active behind the scenes.
“Many calls and meetings now taking place,” he wrote, adding, “We will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran!”
‘Prevented conflict between Serbia and Kosovo’
He also cited other diplomatic interventions during his tenure, claiming credit for preventing conflict between Serbia and Kosovo, and for de-escalating tensions between Egypt and Ethiopia over the Nile dam dispute.
“There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention, and it will stay that way!” he said.
Trump also criticised former President Joe Biden, accusing him of making “very stupid decisions” that have undermined long-term peace efforts. Despite escalating violence in the region, Trump maintained that a peace deal was within reach under his leadership.
“I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!” he concluded.
