The 21-year-old Indian student was the daughter of Davinder Saini, who is said to be the close aide of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa (Dera Bassi Assembly). Vanshika was pursuing higher education in the Canada capital for the past two and a half years. She moved to the country just after the completion of XIIth class to enrol in a two-year diploma course. According to reports, she recently started as a part-time worker.

According to a Facebook post, Vanshika was missing since the evening of April 25 when she left her residence at 7 Majestic Drive around 8-9 pm to check for a rental room. She didn’t return back and her phone was on switch off mode, and she missed an examination (IELTS) on the following day. Family and friends made efforts to trace and contact her but when there was no response, the local police was alerted about the missing.

Her father Davinder Saini, as per media reports, said he last spoke to Vanshika on April 22 as she was preparing for the IELTS examination. The family has urged the Candian authorities to make thorough investigation into the case surrounding the daughter’s death.
