Sharing a post on the social media platform TruthSocial, the President-Elect, who will be sworn in on January 20, claimed that the US administration spent billions of dollars to launch a pathetic, unAmerican witch hunt against him. He added that the charges against him were “completely baseless, illegal, and fake.”

What Trump said in his message

In his message, Trump claimed that the unconditional discharge suggested that there was not a legitimate case against him. “That result alone proves that, as all Legal Scholars and Experts have said, THERE IS NO CASE, THERE WAS NEVER A CASE, and this whole Scam fully deserves to be DISMISSED,” he said.

US court grants unconditional discharge to Donald Trump

Earlier on Friday, Justice Juan Merchan ordered an unconditional discharge sentence on Donald Trump after he was found to be of 34 felony counts. Delivering its judgment, the court cited protections given to the presidential office. Under the sentence ordered by the court, Trump won’t have to serve any prison term. He will also not be required to pay any fines.

While issuing the judgement, the judge said, “The protections of the presidency are a legal mandate which this court must respect and follow. However, despite the extraordinary breadth of those protections, they cannot erase a jury verdict.

The case has been continued since 2016 regarding a purported $1,30,000 payment made by Trump to an adult film star while campaigning for the presidential campaign during his first term at the Oval Office to stop her from going public with allegations that both were involved in a relationship close to a decade earlier.
