Islamabad: Pakistani actor Hina Bayat lashed out at the Pakistani government and authorities over lack of water at the airport. The popular actor was at the Karachi airport, where she took to her social media handle to highlight the poor condition of the airport.

Alarming situation at the airport: Bayat

While Bayat said that the achievements of Pakistan like building of new trains and launch of new projects should be celebrated, attention should also be paid to the basic needs like water availability at such crucial points like the airports in the country.

She then goes on to question, why did the institutions of Pakistan, the airports have reached such a dilapidated state.

The actor was heard saying in the now viral video, “Aaj yaum-e-takbeer hai. Main yahan Karachi International Airport par khadi hoon, aur aaj ke din jab humein Pakistan ki achievements ko celebrate karna chahiye, main dekh rahi hoon ke yahan sabhi washrooms mein paani nahi hai. Log namaz padhne ke liye, bachon ko le jaane ke liye washroom ja rahe hain — par paani hi nahi hai. Hamare airport, hamare institutions, aur hamare systems ka yeh haal kyun ho gaya hai? Aur koi yeh maanne ke liye tayyar nahi hai ke yeh galtiyaan hain jinhein theek karne ki zaroorat hai. Itne naye projects ban rahe hain, nayi trains ki baat ho rahi hai, lekin purane systems — jaise ki international airport ke washrooms mein paani — un par dhyan nahi diya ja raha. Afsos ki baat hai.” (Today is yaum-e-takbeer. I am standing at the Karachi airport and on a day when we should have been celebrating Pakistan’s achievements, I can see that there is no water in the washrooms. People want to offer prayers, they are taking children to the washroom but there is no water. What happened to our institutions, our washrooms and our system? And why is no one ready to admit that these are flaws that need to be fixed. There are several new projects being built, new trains are being launched, but what about the old systems – like waterin the washrooms of international airports, they are being neglected. This is really sad).

She tagged Pakistan airport and the government of Pakistan in her story, hoping to get a response.

Meanwhile netizens had a field day trolling Pakistan over the video. The actor received comments like “There should be achievements to celebrate them”, for her comment that we are celebrating the achievements of Pakistan. She was also reminded of the loans that Pakistan has taken from institutions like the IMF and friendly countries like Turkey, after the video went viral.

A comment on her post read, “She said ‘Pakistan ki achievements celebrate karni chahiye’ — Achievement for taking $1B loan from IMF and $2B from Turkey?”. Meanwhile the economic situation of Pakistan continues to remain pathetic and people are forced to make changes in their lifestyle to deal with the situation. Often videos showing the pathetic condition in the country go viral and the country and its governemnt face ridicule from netizens around the world.
