New Delhi: Parle-G, a popular household biscuit in India known for its affordable yet delicious taste, has become a symbol of the ongoing crisis driven by war. The price of biscuits in Gaza has skyrocketed due to the ongoing conflict.
In a post that went viral on the social media platform X, Mohammed Jawed shared that Parle-G biscuits are his daughter Ravif’s favourite. He mentioned that after a long wait, he finally managed to get some for her, even though the price had surged from €1.50 to €24. He decided to buy them because he couldn’t deny her favourite treat.
According to Jawed, the biscuit, which previously cost him Rs 146, is now available for a staggering Rs 2,342. This dramatic price increase left netizens astonished. While many shared their fondness for Parle-G biscuits and the memories associated with them, others highlighted the plight of innocent civilians affected by the war.

Israel’s military campaign, which began in October 2023 following a Hamas attack, is still ongoing. Israel has restricted Gaza’s access to many essential needs. Between March 2 and May 19 of this year, the region experienced a complete blockade imposed by Israel. This has led to a number of crisis in the area, including for food, cloths and shelter.
