Disruptions were reported at airports across major cities in Pakistan, including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. The country blamed these disruptions on administrative issues.

A total of 149 flights scheduled for today have been cancelled across Pakistan. Of these Islamabad saw 42 flight cancellations, Lahore 36 while 34 flights were cancelled from Karachi airport.

The flight cancellations come days after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan. In retaliation, Pakistan sent drones into India across the Line of Control (LoC) on the intervening night of May 8-9, 2025. The Indian Army claimed to have shot down at least 50 drones in Udhampur, Samba, Jammu, Akhnoor, Nagrota, and Pathankot. None of the attacks by Pakistan were successful, they said.

Not only have flights been cancelled in Pakistan, several international airlines are also avoiding Pakistani airspace. Chaos was reported from several Pakistan airports, as passengers faced inconvenience, owing to rescheduling and flight cancellations.

Operation Sindoor

India, meanwhile has reiterated its stand that it had only targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir, after the Pahalgam terror attack. The ‘Operation Sindoor’ carried out on the intervening night of May 6-7, 2025 was a coveted operation to kill terrorists in Pakistan and send a warning to the country to mend its ways.

India claimed to have killed at least 70 terrorists in Operation Sindoor. Before the airstrikes, India had taken soft measures, like closing the Attari border and suspending the Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan to pressurize it to act against terrorists.
