New Delhi: Pakistan on Thursday said multiple drone attacks targeted its air defence installations across key cities including Lahore, Sialkot, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Sheikhupura and Ghotki. According to Pakistan’s military spokesperson, at least 12 drones were neutralised over a span of two days following India’s missile strikes on terror infrastructure earlier this week.
The spokesperson said drone debris had been recovered from several locations, including Karachi and Lahore, and alleged that Indian drones were continuing to violate Pakistani airspace. “We are engaging and neutralising them one by one,” the spokesperson stated. A particularly sensitive target was struck in Lahore where a key air defense unit came under drone fire.
Operation Sindoor
The Indian Army carried out Operation Sindoor, a military action in which nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) were destroyed. These camps were believed to be used for planning attacks against India. According to Indian officials, nearly 100 Pakistani terrorists were killed in the operation, delivering a strong blow to several terror groups. The strike was launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. Officials said the mission was carefully planned to target only terror infrastructure and avoid harming civilians.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is under increasing pressure. Apart from dealing with the Indian Army’s operation near the Line of Control, it is also facing internal attacks. On Wednesday, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked a Pakistan Army vehicle in Balochistan, reportedly killing several soldiers.
