Investigations on in the crash: Fire department
The Assistant Fire Department chief Dan Eddy told media persons that they are investigating if the plane hit a power line, before crashing. There were no injuries on the ground, he added.
So far the San Diego police department and the fire services have not confirmed how many people were on board the aircraft at the time of the crash. They however said that the small plane could hold at least 8 to 10 passengers at a time.
The plane hit the street as the jet fuel went down and it damaged several cars parked on both sides of the road, according to Eddy, the fire department official. He added that all the cars parked on the street were burning due to the impact of the crash.
Though no details have been released about the flight, San Diego officials said that it was coming from the Midwest. Going by the data shared by a website Flight Aware, it is believed that the plane which crashed could have been a Cessna Citation II jet, as this was the flight which was scheduled to land at the Montgomery-Gibbs Executive airport in San Diego at 3:47 am, around the same time that the crash took place. This plane was coming from the small Colonel James Jabara Airport in Wichita, Kansas.
