South Korea plane crash: How did Boeing 737-800 end up in flames killing hundreds?

Seoul: A Boeing 737-800 plane crashed in South Korea on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least 85 people. The plane, which was traveling from Bangkok to Muan, had 181 passengers on board, said Yonhap news agency reports. At the time of the accident, there were 6 crew and 175 passengers on board the plane.

 Many others have been injured, some critically, and the death toll is expected to rise. A disturbing video of the crash has gone viral on social media, showing the horrific events leading up to the tragedy. 

How the crash took place

The video shows the plane running down the runway, appearing normal at first. However, within moments, the plane slips and loses control. It slides down the runway, colliding with a wall.

The impact caused a massive explosion, followed by a large fire and thick smoke. The aircraft is quickly engulfed in flames and debris scattered across the area.

Boeing 737-800 aircraft involved in accident

Airport authorities rushed to the spot and began efforts to extinguish the fire. Emergency response teams have already begun relief operations, and efforts to identify the victims are underway. The fire caused severe injuries to many passengers, with some suffering from burns due to the explosion.

Flight tracking website FlightRadar24 confirmed that the plane was a Boeing 737-800 model. The aircraft was attempting to land at Muan Airport when the accident occurred, possibly due to a malfunction in its landing gear. Boeing has yet to comment on the incident.

South Korea’s acting President, Choi Sang-moo, expressed his deep sorrow over the tragedy, extending condolences to the victims and their families.
