New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday was conferred with Sri Lanka’s most prestigious award ‘Mithra Vibhushana’ during his three-day visit to the neighbouring country. The Indian head of government received the award from Sri Lanka President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The recipient of the award is given a silver medal and citation. The design of the medal also signified strong symbols of India-Sri Lanka bond.
“It is an honour for me to be awarded the Sri Lanka Mithra Vibhushana by President Dissanayake. It is also an honour for 1.4 billion Indians,” Modi said in his remarks.
