Zagreb: During his visit to Croatia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic signed several important agreements to strengthen the relationship between the two countries. In a public address, PM Modi thanked Croatian government for the warm welcome and expressed his commitment to take India-Croatia relations to a new level.
He said that India and Croatia share common values like democracy, rule of law, and equality. Both the leaders have agreed to give a “three-fold speed” to their bilateral relations.
One of the key highlights of the visit is a long-term plan for defense cooperation. This plan includes training programs, military exchanges, and a focus on boosting the defense industry. The two countries will also explore partnerships in shipbuilding and cybersecurity.
Prime Minister Modi said that India and Croatia can support each other in many areas. He said both sides have identified sectors where their economies complement each other. They aim to expand trade and create a reliable supply chain by increasing cooperation in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, information technology, clean energy, digital technology, semiconductors, and renewable energy.
PM Modi also addressed the issue of terrorism, calling it a major threat to the world. He thanked the Croatian government for showing solidarity after the recent terrorist attack in India on April 22. “Terrorism is the enemy of humanity and democracy,” Modi said, stressing the importance of standing together against such threats.
On global conflicts, PM Modi underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy. He said problems cannot be solved on the battlefield, whether in Europe or Asia. He also added that respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of every country is essential for peace and stability.
