Washington: The killing of two Israeli embassy employees in the United States caused concern between Israel and America. The two victims, Yaron Lisinsky and Sarah Milgram, were working at Israeli embassy in Washington when they were murdered.
Following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to former US President Donald Trump over the phone. Trump expressed deep sadness over the deaths and assured full support to Israel. He said that the incident was not only cruel but also a matter of concern for the safety of the Jewish community living in America. He offered his condolences to the families of the victims and called the attack unacceptable.
Netanyahu appreciates Trump’s support
Netanyahu thanked Trump for his quick response. He appreciated America’s support during this tragic time and expressed hope that the people responsible for the killings will be caught and punished soon.
During the conversation, Trump made it clear that his government does not tolerate anti-semitic incidents. He said strict action will be taken against those who spread hate or violence. He also said that the safety of the Jewish community in the US is one of his top priorities.
Netanyahu, Trump discuss Gaza war
Apart from this, both leaders also discussed the ongoing war in Gaza. Trump supported Israel’s main goals in the war, the release of hostages, the elimination of the militant group Hamas, and rebuilding Gaza after the conflict. Netanyahu, for the first time, agreed to Trump’s civil rehabilitation plan as a condition to end the war.
The issue of Iran’s nuclear program also came up in the talks. Both leaders strongly agreed that Iran must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons under any circumstances.
