Washington: A US federal judge on Friday temporarily stopped Trump administration from canceling Harvard University’s ability to enroll international students. This decision came after Harvard filed a legal case calling the move unconstitutional and harmful to thousands of students and the university’s academic programs.
The judge, Allison Burroughs, who was appointed during former President Obama’s term, issued the temporary restraining order on Friday. She said the government cannot go ahead with its plan for now. According to Reuters reports, Harvard’s legal team argued that the revocation of its certification to admit foreign students would immediately affect more than 7,000 international students and many ongoing programs.
