Washington: Donald Trump marked his return to the White House with a declaration of a new “golden age” for America, claiming his inauguration signifies the end of “America’s decay.” He framed his return as a “liberation” for the US.
Soon after taking office Trump signed 80 executive orders aimed at undoing policies implemented under the Biden administration. He immediately signed a series of executive orders, including withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement for a second time and pardoning approximately 1,500 individuals involved in the January 6th Capitol attack.
First wave of Trump executive orders rolled out
- He declared a national emergency at the US-Mexico border, promising deployment of troops and increased manpower to stop what he termed an “illegal immigrant invasion.”
- Officially withdrew the United States from the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement for the second time, formally notifying the United Nations. This signals a renewed rejection of the international accord aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
- Granted pardons to approximately 1,500 supporters involved in the January 6th, 2021 Capitol attack.
- Issued a series of executive orders, including:
- Troop deployment to the US-Mexico border.

- Plans to declare a state of emergency in the energy sector to boost production.
- Renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the “Gulf of America.”
- An executive order aimed at restoring free speech and ending state censorship.
- Establishing a two-gender (male and female) official policy.
- A vow to “take back” the Panama Canal.
