Washington: A multi-agency search and rescue operation has been launched in the Potomac River after an American Airlines flight with 60 people onboard crashed into it following a midair collision with a US Army Blackhawk helicopter in Washington DC on Wednesday evening.
Police and medical teams have been rushed to the spot with fireboats already in the river to conduct search and rescue and no information is available on casualties yet.
“All takeoffs and landings have been halted at DCA. Emergency personnel are responding to an aircraft incident on the airfield. The terminal remains open. Will update,” the Ronald Reagan Airport in Washington said in a post on X.
