New Delhi: The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has a new director, Indian-origin Kash Patel. While Patel received congratulations from President Donald Trump’s team, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino stood out.
Scavino shared a video on his official X handle featuring Patel’s face superimposed on Ranveer Singh’s performance of the Bollywood song Malhari from Bajirao Mastani. The edited video quickly went viral, amassing over three million views. Scavino in another post said that Trump has officially signed the commission to confirm Kash Patel as the ninth director of the FBI.

Patel gets 51 vote in the Republican-controlled Senate
Patel was confirmed by a 51-49 vote in the Republican-controlled Senate to lead US’s premier federal law enforcement agency. The White House in a statement said that Patel’s confirmation was important to restore integrity and uphold the rule of law.
“Kash Patel’s confirmation as FBI Director is a crucial step in executing President Trump’s agenda to restore integrity and uphold the rule of law. The FBI will serve the American people and refocus on its core mission: enforcing justice fairly and without bias,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, after his confirmation, Kash took to his X handle and said: “let good cops be cops—and rebuild trust in the FBI”. He also thanked President Trump and Attorney General Bondi for their support. “I am honored to be confirmed as the ninth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Thank you to President Trump and Attorney General Bondi for your unwavering confidence and support,” he wrote further.
Patel vows to rebuild FBI
He added that they will “rebuild an FBI the American people can be proud of”. He also issued a stern warning to those who wants to harm America and its interests. “And to those who seek to harm Americans—consider this your warning. We will hunt you down in every corner of this planet. Mission First. America Always. Let’s get to work,” Patel added.
Kash Patel, a Trump loyalist known for his criticism of the FBI, is set to take charge of the agency amid turmoil. In recent weeks, the Justice Department has ousted several senior FBI officials and made an unusual request for the names of thousands of agents involved in investigations related to the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021.
Patel has expressed his intention to implement significant reforms within the bureau, including scaling down its headquarters in Washington and shifting its focus back to traditional crime-fighting efforts rather than the intelligence and national security operations that have defined its role in recent decades.
