Washington: US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a warm and friendly exchange during a meeting at White House. Before heading towards a crucial bilateral discussion, Donald Trump surprised PM Modi with a special gift – a coffee table book titled “Our Journey Together”. The book features a cover image of Trump waving from Air Force One and carries a personal message from the US President: “Mr. Prime Minister, you’re great.”

As the two leaders greeted each other, Trump said, “We missed you, we missed you a lot.” The camaraderie between the leaders was evident when they shared a warm hug, with Trump calling PM Modi a “special person.”

Published in December 2021, the 320-page book captures key moments of Trump’s first presidency. It includes images of his policies, historic meetings with global leaders, and personal milestones.

Trump reportedly handpicked the photographs and wrote many of the captions himself. Highlighting his visit to India in 2020, Trump opened the book to a photograph taken during his trip to the Taj Mahal. The book is priced at Rs 6,000 on Amazon India and $100 on the Trump Store, according to CNBC reports.

What PM Modi, Trump said on their friendship

Trump also announced plans to strengthen the partnership further. “Today, the PM and I are announcing the framework to strengthen the ties further,” he said.

PM Modi expressed gratitude for Trump’s gesture and conveyed warm wishes on behalf of the people of India. “I am delighted to see you back in the White House. I congratulate you on behalf of 140 crore people of India,” said PM Modi.

Reflecting on their strong working relationship, PM Modi added, “People of India gave me an opportunity to serve as PM for the third time. In this term, I have the opportunity to work with President Trump once again for the next four years, and it is a great pleasure. From my past experience of working with you in your first term, we will continue to advance India-US strategic partnership with the same bond, same trust, and the same excitement.”

During the interaction, Trump recalled his bond with India, saying, “There is a special bond between the US and India.” PM Modi reciprocated the sentiment by inviting Trump to visit India again.
