New Delhi: “India will continue to speak the language of force as long as Pakistan continues to speak the language of terrorism,” said Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday, while responding to a question about Rahul Gandhi’s “Narender-Surrender” remark.

Currently, Tharoor is in the US leading a parliamentary delegation that is exposing Pakistan’s terror links and explaining India’s stance on terrorism.

He also said: “We have enormous respect for the American Presidency and the American President. All we can say for ourselves is that we never particularly wanted to ask anyone to mediate. We don’t have any difficulty in speaking the same language as the Pakistanis.”

On Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi had slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government over allegations that the US had mediated between India and Pakistan while bringing about the ceasefire after Operation Sindoor. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi yielded to Donald Trump’s pressure after the US president called him.

On Wednesday, replying to Rahul Gandhi’s allegation, Tharoor said: “As long as they (Pakistan) use the language of terrorism, we’ll use the language of force that doesn’t require a third party. If, on the other hand, they were to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism, we can talk to them.”

Tharoor asserted that India didn’t need external advice to stop its actions during the recent confrontation, as everything would stop the moment Pakistan ended its aggression.

The Congress MP added: “If they (US) in turn then told the Pakistanis that you better stop and the Indians are willing to stop, that’s a wonderful gesture on their part.”
