Washington: US President Donald Trump has appointed Indian-American lawyer Kash Patel, 44, as the Director of the FBI. Patel was officially sworn in as the ninth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Thursday and expressed gratitude for his family’s support throughout the confirmation process.
Born to Gujarati parents in Garden City, New York, on February 25, 1980, Patel has had a distinguished career in law and national security.
His confirmation hearing also drew attention to his girlfriend, country singer and Republican press secretary Alexis Wilkins, who attended the event alongside his family.

Who is Alexis Wilkins?
During Kash Patel’s confirmation hearing, his girlfriend, Alexis Wilkins, became a trending topic online, sparking curiosity about her background.
Wilkins is a country singer, writer, and commentator. Alongside her music career, she serves as the press secretary for Republican Representative Abraham Hamade, further establishing her presence in political circles.
Her debut EP and a Veterans Day tribute song have gained over 1 million streams across major platforms. She has performed alongside well-known artists, including Chris Young, Joe Nichols, Sara Evans, and Parmalee.
Raised in Switzerland and England, Wilkins later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where she studied business and political science at Belmont University.
According to the Daily Mail, she first met Patel at a conservative ReAwaken America rally in October 2022, and the couple reportedly began dating in January 2023.
Wilkins is also an advocate for veterans’ issues, working with organisations such as Warrior Rounds, Operation Standdown, and Soldier’s Child to support veterans.
