Fabio Ochoa’s first indictment

The first indictment of Ochao in US came when he was charged with the killing of a US pilot who flew cocaine flights for drug cartel Medellin. Pilot Barry Seal was killed in 1986 after he allegedly became an informant for US Drug Enforcement authorities.

Fabio Ochoa and his two older brothers surrendered to Colombian police following a deal in early 1990s to avoid being extradited to US. The brothers were freed in 1996 after spending 6 years in jail. However, Fabio Ochoa was rearrested and later extradited to US in 2001. His extradition came after Ochao was indicted in Miami.

Fabio Ochao’s depiction in Netflix series

Fabio Ochao faded from public memory long time back. However, the Medellin cartel member rose to prominence when he was depicted in a Nexflx series Griselda where he fought for the control of cocaine market in Miami.

Ochao was also featured in another Netflix webseries called Narcos. In the series, Ochao is shown as a son of an elite Medellin family.
