Mumbai: Dubai has secured the eighth spot globally and the top position in the Middle East in the Global Power City Index (GPCI) 2024 for the second consecutive year. Mumbai also featured in the list, becoming the only Indian city in the rankings.
Mumbai was ranked at the 42nd spot after Cairo and Johannesburg respectively.
The annual study, conducted by Japan’s Mori Memorial Foundation, highlights Dubai’s leadership in innovation, economic growth, and global connectivity. This recognition solidifies Dubai’s status as the only Middle Eastern city in the top 10, reinforcing its role as a key global centre for business, talent, and investment.
“Dubai continues to redefine possibilities, blending innovation, sustainability, and a strong focus on nurturing talent,” said Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan credited Dubai’s success to its world-class infrastructure, which attracts international investment and top talent. He emphasised the importance of the city’s flexible and forward-looking legislative framework, designed to foster innovation and adapt to global changes.
Additionally, the Crown Prince highlighted the vital role of Dubai’s public-private partnerships in creating a thriving ecosystem that drives collaboration and growth.
“Dubai’s strong performance on global indices proves we are not just keeping up with the world – we are setting new standards for excellence,” he added.
What is Global Power City Index?
